take onはこれまでに「＜人＞を｛競技などで｝対戦相手にする」（『ジーニアス英和辞典』第３版，大修館）という意味で採り上げられていますが，ここでは「『アバター』に挑戦する，（取り入れて）舞台化する」と解釈できます。（Koyamamoto）
Cirque du Soleil takes on 'Avatar'
MONTREAL — Academy Award-winning filmmaker James Cameron is partnering with Cirque du Soleil to bring his blockbuster film “Avatar” to the stage.
The live show is scheduled to debut in late 2015, prior to the release of three upcoming “Avatar” film sequels currently in pre-production, and tour around the world.
“Over the years, I have discovered the extraordinary talents and imaginations of both the artists and the creative forces behind Cirque du Soleil,” said Cameron.
