Paul McCartney Cancels Tokyo Show After Coming Down With Virus
Illness delays Out There Japan Tour kickoff
Paul McCartney has been forced to delay the kickoff for his Out There Japan Tour after contracting a virus. The former Beatle posted a note on his website Saturday explaining that his concert that same night at Tokyo's National Stadium would have to be postponed on orders from his doctors after he began feeling ill on Friday.
"Thank you for such a beautiful and warm welcome to your country," the message, which was printed in English and Japanese, began. "I've unfortunately had to postpone tonight’s show in Tokyo. I came down with a virus on Friday and following a visit from doctors, I've been told not to perform tonight. I am very sorry to all my fans as I was greatly looking forward to the concert, but the situation is out of my hands.
"Along with the doctors, I'm doing all I can to ensure I will be better for tomorrow night's show and the rest of my time in Japan. We are planning to replay this show on Monday. I really hope you can make it."
According to the Associated Press, tickets to the canceled date will be honored for Monday night's show, and a refund will also be offered. McCartney is scheduled to play four more concerts in Japan and one in South Korea before heading to Lubbock, Texas to launch his U.S. tour on June 14th.
While in Japan earlier this week, McCartney debuted the video for his song "Appreciate," which found the musician showing off some dance moves alongside a robot in a futuristic museum.
