Masahiro Tanaka dominates Mets as Yankees stop Subway Series losing streak with 4-0 win
Masahiro Tanaka's domination of the Mets Wednesday night was so complete he even knocked a single up the middle in the ninth inning, his first major-league hit. His teammates had a lot of fun with the moment — Brian Roberts even joked that Tanaka “apparently can do everything” — but what was really important to the Yankees was what Tanaka did from the mound.
On a night the Yanks desperately needed a big start, Tanaka delivered, throwing his first career shutout in a 4-0 victory over the Mets in front of 35,577 at Citi Field. The $175 million ace tossed a four-hitter, striking out eight and walking none.
“Yes, I knew we were in a little funk and I also knew we hadn’t won a Subway Series game in a while,” Tanaka said through a translator. “Overall, I think today was my best day.”
Websterをチェックしてみると、"to be afraid of"、"to shrink from undertaking or facing"とあります。
(UG)
