Tokyo police arrest Vietnamese flight attendant for smuggling stolen goods

Police authorities from Tokyo have taken into custody a female cabin attendant of Vietnam Airlines on suspicion of smuggling. Police have searched the airline’s office in Tokyo as the 25-year old was accused of illegally trafficking in stolen goods to Vietnam.

Authorities are also looking at twenty other Vietnam Airlines employees for the same charge and have invited five crew members to the MPD for questioning. Four cabin attendants and a copilot were the five employees MPD has sought for questioning, however they are still outside Japan and police are waiting for their response. Nguyen Bich Ngoc supposedly brought 21 pieces of stolen clothing worth 125,000 yen (approx. US$1,200) into the airline’s special bus from a hotel in Osaka to the Kansai International Airport in September. The alleged smuggling was a favor from a 30-year old Vietnamese female resident in Japan, who has been charged with purchasing stolen goods.
