Heavy snow, strong winds forecast for Kanto region
The Japan Meteorological Agency said Saturday that heavy snow is expected to fall on the Tokyo metropolitan region throughout the day as a low atmospheric pressure system moving up from the south and a cold air mass merge over the Kanto region.
The agency predicted that Tokyo will see up to 15 cms of snow—its heaviest snowfall in 16 years—and much more than Jan 14 last year when snow paralyzed the city’s transportation network and injured more than 250 people.
The agency also said that strong winds with a speed of up to 70 kilometers per hour will buffet Tokyo in the afternoon.

以前にもとりあげられていますが，buffetは「バイキング形式の食事，立食」がおなじみですが，こちらは動詞。語源の「こぶしの一撃」から「見舞う，襲う，吹き荒れる」あたりの意味で用いられています（バイキングの方の語源は「テーブル」）。発音は/bʌfɪt/になります。
