Speed skating: Okazaki fails in Olympics selection, to retire

NAGANO (Kyodo) -- Tomomi Okazaki, who skated for Japan at five Winter Olympics, said Saturday she will retire, after failing to make the team for next February's Sochi Games.

The 42-year-old Okazaki, who won a bronze medal in the women's 500 meters at the 1998 Nagano Games, finished sixth at Nagano's M-Wave, where the second day of the

Olympic selection meet was held.

"I've done what I had to do," she said.
