以前研究室にてUG先生とpinについてお話させて頂いたのですが、早速この表現にお目にかかりましたので取り上げます。pinと言いますと名詞の「ピン、留め針」を想起しますが、見出しでは動詞で第四語義の「＜希望・信頼など＞を[人・物に]かける」（『ジーニアス英和辞典　第３版』大修館）となります。尚、Oxford Dictionaries Onlineでは pin one's hopes (or faith) onの形で’rely heavily on’と掲載されていました。(cf. pin - 田邉祐司ゼミ 常時英心：言葉の森から)(Shou-VR*)
