rocky start

先ほどと同じ記事から表現を拾います。

今回はrocky startを取り上げます。そのままだと「岩のごつごつしたスタート」のような訳になってしまいますが、rockyには「不安定な」という意味もあります。（『ジーニアス英和辞典　第4版』大修館）つまりここでは「不安定な出だし」というところでしょうか。私はこの文を見て「茨の道」が思い浮かびました。
