to have a high-speed start to life

いい話です。ドイツ鉄道は走行中の電車内で生まれたbaby girlに地元の近郊鉄道を生涯利用できる特別乗車券の贈呈を決めました。a high-speed start to life、言い得て妙です。(Jakie)

Lifetime travel pass for baby born on train

A baby girl had a high-speed start to life on Thursday morning when her mother gave birth on a train in eastern Germany. The lucky new-born will be able to travel for free in the area for the rest of her life.

The heavily-pregnant woman boarded the regional train in Leipzig, Saxony, shortly before 6am, unaware that she was about to go into labour.

But as soon as the train pulled out of the station contractions set in. Passengers alerted staff who then made an announcement to see if there was a doctor or nurse on board, an eyewitness told Bild newspaper.

As no doctor was onboard, two passengers led the mother-to-be into a disabled toilet, where they delivered the baby as the train sped towards neighbouring Halle, where medics were waiting.

Both mother and baby were doing well at St Elisabeth's hospital, Bild said.
