Japan Post Co. is fighting a spike from last fiscal year in scams utilizing its pay-on-arrival service that con elderly people into paying for goods they didn't order.

In the scams, malicious businesses call elderly victims, insisting that they have purchased various health products, and demand payment. If the victims refuse, the businesses sometimes yell and threaten them, and in many cases, the victims accede out of fear.
