“I think I got off to a good start,” said Matsuyama, who overcame some poor shots at the start of his round.

今回取り上げるのはget offです。これは、「降りる」という意味があるのはもちろん、「出発する」、「のがれる」などの意味もあります。(『ジーニアス英和辞典 第4版』大修館)しかし今回は「いいスタートが切れたと思う」という意味で使われていますね。(cf. http://d.hatena.ne.jp/A30/20120330/1333061056
