pleaには「<…を求める/…して欲しいという>嘆願、懇願」「抗弁、申し立て」などの意味があります。（『ウィズダム英和辞典　第３版』三省堂）ここではもちろん最初の意味で使われています。また、この語の語源はラテン語の「喜ばせるもの」によるそうです。(ibid)また、pleadで「嘆願する、懇願する」という意味になります。（ibid）pleaと共におさえておきたいと思います。
真実はわかりませんが、この事件の判決に納得していないのはStevie Wonderだけではないのですね。（Jakie）
