先程とは別のサイトからＪ・Ｋ・ローリング氏の記事を見てみます。
JK Rowling's crime novel: The verdict Jake Kerridge praises The Cuckoo's Calling, JK Rowling's debut crime novel - and kicks himself for not guessing earlier that she was writing under a pseudonym.
But the major clue is that Rowling has always been a crime writer manquée. Several of the Harry Potter stories are basically whodunits. The authorial legerdemain by which Rowling makes you think something about Professor Quirrell, Sirius Black or Scabbers the rat, and then makes you gasp by showing you how you’ve missed the numerous clues as to their true nature, has always seemed to me to recall Agatha Christie.

whodun(n)itsはWho done [did] it?という表現を元にした表現で、「（（略式））推理小説｛映画・劇｝」（『ジーニアス英和辞典 第３版』大修館）という意味になります。Oxford Dictionaries Onlineでも確認してみますと’ a story or play about a murder in which the identity of the murderer is not revealed until the end.’と定義されていました。補足ですが、アメリカではwhodunitsと綴りますが、イギリスではwhodunnitsと表記するようです。
