現在、三振王となっているダルビッシュ投手の米球宴回避には驚きましたが、それほど大きなケガではないようなのでホッとしています。早く完治してくれればと思います。

Injured Darvish to miss All-Star Game

NEW YORK —
A strained shoulder muscle landed Texas Rangers hurler Yu Darvish on the 15-day disabled list on Thursday, and the Japanese star will miss Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game.

Darvish had been scheduled to pitch Thursday against the Baltimore Orioles, but the Rangers said he had a strained muscle in his right shoulder.

The club hope the injury is the result of fatigue and they can bring him back into the rotation after the All-Star break.

“I don’t think it’s a big issue,” Darvish said. “But just as a precaution, I would rather skip a start than push it through.”

「競争を勝ち抜き仕事、契約などを得る」（"to succeed in getting a job, contract etc that was difficult to get"--LDOCE）という意味のlandは本ブログでも何度となく取り上げられてきましたが、その動詞用法にはland somebody in trouble/hospital/court etc という意味があることを先生から教わりました。"to cause someone to have serious problems or be in a difficult situation"がその定義ですが、そうするとやはり重傷なのでしょうか...。
