The New York TimesにあったLEXUS LS 460に関する記事から英語表現を拾います。
今回採り上げるのはsuffocateという動詞です。「呼吸困難にする」や「窒息死させる」という意味でしばし用いられるこの単語ですが， その他にsuffocateには「…を打ち負かす」（『プログレッシブ英和中辞典』小学館）という意味があります。ここではevery roadが目的語になっていることから，suffocate every roadは「どんな道路でも物ともしない」「あらゆる道路に対応する」と解釈できます。（Koyamamoto）
