remittance-soliciting fraud

(Koyamamoto)

Majority of fraud cases in big cities involve direct cash delivery
Fraud cases in Tokyo and other big cities in recent years mainly have concerned direct cash delivery from victims to the criminals, rather than remittance-soliciting fraud, police statistics show.
Of 3,631 fraud cases in Tokyo last year, 2,173, or 60 percent, accounted for such hand delivery tactics. The total amount of the defrauded money in Tokyo reached an all-time high of about 8.1 billion yen in 2012, up sharply from about 2.3 billion yen in 2009.
