Born in Ehime Prefecture, Matsuyama graduated from Meitoku Gijuku High School in Kochi Prefecture — one of the most renowned schools in the country for producing professional athletes — before enrolling at Tohoku Fukushi University in 2010 when he was crowned Asian amateur champion.
He won accolades for his debut performance at the 2011 Masters by placing in a tie for 27th for the top finish by an amateur.

少し前の記事になりますが、今回取り上げる表現はaccoladeです。手持ちのジーニアスには載っていなかったのですが、LDOCEには”praise for someone who is greatly admired, or a prize given to them for their work”と定義されていました。「称賛」あたりの意味でしょうか。

松山選手は以前試合で何度も見かけたことがありますが、やはりその時からオーラが違いました。プロ2戦目での優勝は初めての快挙だそうです。素晴らしいですね。これからもゴルフ界を引っ張っていってほしいです。（Haramii）
