今回はright off the batという表現に注目したいと思います。過去に先輩が詳しく取り上げておられますが、http://d.hatena.ne.jp/A30/20101215/1292422056 辞書で調べてみると「〈米・くだけて〉直ちに，すぐさま」(『ウィズダム英和辞典　第二版』三省堂)と定義されていました。英英でも調べてみると、Collins English Dictionaryには、"(US & Canadian, informal) immediately; without hesitation"と定義されています。ボールがバットに当たった後、すぐさまボールが飛んでいく様子が思い浮かびました。(Astroriver)
