今回取り上げるのはbe framed for という表現です。frameというとすぐに「縁」や「枠にはめる」を思い浮かべますが、be framed forで「〈人が〉《犯罪の》ぬれ衣を着せられる、はめられる（up）」という意味を表します。（『ウィズダム英和辞典　第３版』三省堂）また、「〈試合で〉八百長が仕組まれる」もこの表現を用いて表すことができます。（ibid）
