早速辞書で確認してみると、「（（略式））命令｛支配｝権を持つ、指揮する」（『ジーニアス英和辞典 第３版』大修館）と記載されていました。ODOでも調べてみると、‘take the initiative in deciding how something should be done’と定義されていました。さらにこの表現は、call the tuneとも言い換えることができるので、これも併せて覚えておこうと思います。(Shou-VR*)
