赤字のdrive homeに注目してみます。『リーダーズ英和辞典』をみてみると「〈議論・事実などを〉納得(痛感)させる」とあります。これだと意味合いがよくわからないのでOxford Advanced Leaner’s Dictionaryを参照してみると“make somebody realise something, especially by saying it often, loudly, angrily, etc.”とあります。つまり、「〈議論・事実などを〉[声を挙げて、何度も主張することにより]納得(痛感)[理解]させる」という意味合いであることがわかります。
これを踏まえると「要点を納得させようと、ディレクターのホール氏は、エントウィッスルのようなやり方ではなく、BBCの番組[では"Ding! Dong! The Witch is Dead"を途中でカットして放送するよう]仕切ったと問題に対する持論を展開した。」となると思います。(Othello)
