自民党が昨年11月に募集した党広報グッズ等に使用する安倍総裁・石破幹事長のマスコットキャラクターが決定し，そのイラストを発表しました。
dashというと「突進, 突撃」という意味がすぐに想起されますが，その他に「（注入［混合, 添加］されたものの）少量」という意味があります（『プログレッシブ英和中辞典』小学館）。同辞書にはred with a dash of purple（紫がかった赤）という用例が挙げられていました。
今回のa requisite dash of cuteは「広報で不可欠なかわいらしさ（親しみやすさ）」と解釈できます。（Koyamamoto）

It looks like the Liberal Democratic Party has cuter ideas than “Abenomics” to enthrall the public ahead of the Upper House election this summer.
Illustrated characters resembling Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Secretary General Shigeru Ishiba have recently been selected to promote the resurgent LDP and its conservative causes with a requisite dash of cute.
