今回取り上げる表現はgobble upです。gobbleは、「…をがつがつ食べる」という意味があり、そこから「…を食いつくす」という意味があります。（『ジーニアス英和辞典　第４版』大修館）LDOCEにも”to eat something very quickly, especially in an impolite or greedy way”と定義されていました。ここでは電池の話なので、「電池を食う」という意味で使われています。英語でも電池を「食う」という言い方をするのですね。（Haramii）
