東京五輪招致委員会の竹田恒和理事長は5日、国際オリンピック委員会(IOC)が行った独自調査で東京の支持率が70%になったと発表しました。
SUPPORT OF TOKYO’S BID FOR 2020 GAMES RISES
Public support for Tokyo’s bid for the 2020 Summer Games has risen to 70 percent in Tokyo, compared to an approval rating of 47 percent for the Japanese capital’s project in May, according to Tsunekazu Takeda, International Olympic Committee (IOC) member and president of both the Japanese Olympic Committee and Tokyo 2020, who made the statements on Tuesday.
Takeda said details of the survey will be released by the International Olympic Committee this summer.
“I am pleased to hear these survey results. It demonstrates Tokyo’s unmatched passion for sport and the desire to host the 2020 Games,” Takeda said, according to Kyodo news agency. “The IOC will give the details, such as the methodology and sample size later in June.”
“We know public support was a challenge for us last time, and so we are delighted by this very strong result. It is especially significant that a large number of our passionate supporters are young people, showing that the future is bright for the Olympic movement in Japan.
The Japanese are enthusiastic fans of sport and they love the Olympic and Paralympic Games. They also understand, as recent surveys indicate, that hosting the Games in Tokyo in 2020 would have long-term benefits for Japanese sport, society, the economy and the environment,” Takeda said during a previous press conference.

(EnDough)
