Tiers of joy
イングランドリーグ５部のルートンがプレミアリーグのノーリッジを1-0で破るgiant killing（大物食い）を演じました。アマチュアである５部以下のチームが１部を破るのは２４年ぶりの快挙だそうです。
見出しのTiers of joyはまずtears of joy（嬉し涙）を意識したものと考えられます。またtierは「階層」（『プログレッシブ英和中辞典』小学館）を意味し，ここではfifth-tierとあることからもわかるように「〜部リーグ」を指しています。この「〜部リーグ」にはleagueやdimensionがしばし用いられますが，tierも押さえておきましょう。さらにtiers of joyはwedding cake companyの名前としても使われており，この場合のtiersは「ケーキの段」のことですね。
