最近色々ニュースで見かけるボーイングです。とうとう機内に煙が出て緊急着陸したそうです。
リンク先の動画でわかるとおり、機体からすべり台みたいなのが降りています。もちろんあそこから非常時に地上に降りるのですが、英語ではevacuation chuteと表現します。
chuteは「（遊園地の）すべり台」（『ジーニアス英和辞典 第４版』大修館）を意味する単語です。もともとはフランス語の「落ちる[倒れる]こと、落下」（『クラウン仏和辞典 第6版』三省堂）から来ているものと思われます。連結要素"para-"「保護、防護」（『ジーニアス英和辞典 第４版』大修館）がくっつくとスカイダイビングの時に使う道具が出てきますね。(Minnesota)
ANA Dreamliner makes emergency landing
A Boeing 787 Dreamliner made an emergency landing at an airport in western Japan on Wednesday morning. No injuries were reported.
All Nippon Airways says smoke was detected after the plane took off from Yamaguchi-Ube Airport in western Japan at 8:10 AM. It was bound for Tokyo's Haneda Airport, carrying 137 people.
The pilot requested an emergency landing and brought the aircraft down at Takamatsu Airport, Kagawa Prefecture, at about 8:45 AM.
All Nippon Airways says all of the passengers and crew members safely evacuated the plane.
NHK's camera at Takamatsu Airport shows the emergency evacuation chutes extended from the plane.
