prank call/ hoax call

これは面白いとは思うのですが、ちょっとやり過ぎと言うか、やってはいけないかな、と思います。
オーストラリアのラジオ番組がケイト氏が入院している病院へ、突撃生電話をしました。このようなイタズラ電話は、ａprank callと言います。prankはジョークや冗談の範囲です。個人的には『アメリカ口語教本 上級』にあったcollege lifeのpresentationを思い出します。

一方で当局はhoax callと表現しています。どちらも、日本語では変わらないとは思いますが、hoaxは"A deceptive trick played as a practical joke or maliciously (also adjective)"と(The Cambridge Dictionary)あるように「騙す」と言う意味合いがあることに注意が必要です (c.f. hocus-pocus)。(Othello)
