monocoque

EnDoughくんの近所の話ではないでしょうか。ここのmonocoqueとはどのような意味でしょうか。おフランスのことばのようですね。(UG @ 新東名ナウ)

Tokyo firm plans special monocoque bus tours of 'Seven Deities of Good Fortune'

"Gingatetsudo (Galaxy Railways)," a bus company based in Tokyo's Higashimurayama, plans to launch special tours of the "Seven Deities of Good Fortune" in a neighboring city, using a monocoque bus that used to be seen across the country until around the mid-1970s.

The special monocoque bus tours of the "Seven Deities of Good Fortune" in Tokyo's Ome -- the "city of the Showa Era (1926-1989)" -- are planned for a total of 16 days from Nov. 23 on holidays, weekends and New Year's Day. "This is the sound of the Showa Era," Gingatetsudo President Hiroaki Yamamoto said with beaming eyes as he got behind the wheel, and tinkered with the air brakes and turn signals.

His company mobilized its buses to transport volunteer workers for free to areas devastated by the March 11, 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. Yamamoto bought the monocoque bus last summer. He said, "I want to pave the way for a bright future by remembering the wisdom of our predecessors who operated vehicles by fully utilizing their maintenance and operational skills."
