ご指名質問enhance driver’s licence回答（Temple Gate）

遅くなりましたが，GPさんからの質問に回答します。質問は，enhanced driver's licenceとNexus passの説明でした。

“He was very nice about it,” he said of the officer. “I think a good part of it had to do with the fact that it was the holidays and I seem like a nice-enough person.” U.S. Customs and Border Protection says it will accept documentation such as a passport, an enhanced driver’s licence or a Nexus pass from Canadian citizens entering at land crossings. The list doesn’t mention facsimiles, like scans and photocopies.

まず，記事の内容は，パスポートの代わりにiPadに保存したドキュメントファイルを見せて越境に成功したというものでした。
次にenhanced driver’s licenceですが，enhanceには「（力などを）高める，（コンピュータによって）〈写真・画像〉の画質を高める」の意味があります。ここでは，enhanced driver’s licenceで「画像処理された運転免許」と訳しました。そしてNexus passですが，nexusは「つながり，結びつき，関係，ネクサス」を表すことから，Nexus passを「つながりパス」と訳しましたが判然としません（『ジーニアス英和辞典』第4版，大修館書店）。そこで，インターネットで検索をした結果Canada Border Services Agencyに以下のような答えがありました。
「NEXUS is designed to expedite the border clearance process for low-risk, pre-approved travelers into Canada and the United States. The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are cooperating in this joint venture to simplify border crossing for members while enhancing security.」
