Mongolia's Harumafuji met little resistance as he plowed through top maegashira Takekaze to seal up his fourth win, and Estonia's Baruto held steady and took out both komusubi Wakakoyu and the referee after a hard-fought thrusting battle. The referee went down heavily as Wakakoyu crashed into him, and had to be carried off afterward on a stretcher, although he was later reported to be OK.
今回の表現はseal upです。動詞で「〈人が〉〈物〉に[…で]封をする，封印する」などの意味を思い浮かべます（『ジーニアス英和辞典』第4版，大修館書店）。しかし，ここでは違う意味で使われています。辞書には「〈勝利・友情・契約など〉を動かぬものにする，確かなものにする」とありました（『ジーニアス英和辞典』同上）。ネットなどで検索をかけてみるとseal up the victoryといった例がよく挙げられています。seal upを含む上記の英文では，大関の日馬富士は四勝目を確固なものとするため，豪風（前頭一枚目）に突っ込んでいったようすが伝えられています。（GP）
