Dice-K 2.0

Web 2.0のように、IT関連名詞の後ろに「2.0」をもってくると、もっぱら「進化」を示すと考えていました。しかし、ダルビッシュ投手が交渉を行っているThe Rangersの地元の新聞紙の見出しは違いました。このDice-K 2.0は、「松坂の二の舞」とも訳せましょうか。justも効いています。

Is Yu Darvish just Dice-K 2.0? Not so, says national writer

There are plenty of similarities to draw between Yu Darvish and failed Red Sox pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka, from their nationality to their posting fees down to their age upon arrival in the U.S.
But that's about where the comparisons stop, writes Baseball Nation's Rob Neyer.
Though Matsuzaka got off to a hot start, throwing 240 innings in 33 appearances as a 20-year-old. But injuries and inconsistency quickly caught up with Dice-K, and though he put up back-to-back strong seasons before coming to the states, his overall resume can't touch Darvish's.
"What Matsuzaka did for those last two seasons, Darvish has done for the last five seasons," Neyer wrote. He's been excellent and he's been consistent."
In Darvish's final five years in Japan, he threw at least 200 innings four times, accumulated more strike outs than innings pitched in all but one season, and never posted an ERA above 1.88.
In eight years in Japan, Matsuzaka's best-ever ERA for a season was 2.13.
Which isn't to say that Darvish is a lock to succeed should he sign with Texas. But it's certainly good news for Ranger fans.
"There's no such thing as a sure thing. Matsuzaka wasn't a sure thing. Darvish isn't a sure thing," Neyer wrote. "But on scale of non-surety, and based solely on the numbers at hand, Darvish seems significantly less risky than Matsuzaka."
