Milton Wong loved working in the kitchen, especially for the feast that he hosted on New Year’s Day for everyone in his large but close-knit family.

tableは「テーブル，食卓」という意味がよく知られていますが，ここでは「会議」など話し合いをする場をさしていると思います。というのも，元々tableは“宴会や会議などの象徴”とされており，動詞では「〈議案など〉を上程する，棚上げする」などの意味があるからです。また、外交ではbring~to the tableで「交渉におみやげを持って行く」という風にも用いられます。これらのことを踏まえて赤字を直訳すると「たくさんのものを会議に持ち込む」となります。そこから転じて、「社会にりっぱな貢献をした」という意味になると思います。なお、彼は「キッチンパパ」でもあり、新年のパーティーではそのシェフぶりを披露したことでも知られていますので、そちらとのことば遊びもあったと思われます。（GP）
