気になるのが，pony upです。名詞ponyはもちろんロバという意味ですが，pony upは「金を支払う」という意味です。とくに「いやいやながら支払う」というニュアンスのときに使用されるようです。
つぎのprop upは「(存続が危うくなった)[企業・国・人などを]支援する」という意味で使われます。貨幣同盟を支援するとありますが，もちろん，これはEU圏のことを支援するという意味です。
続いてthe great leap forwardは，中国の大躍進政策などの意味もあるようですが，ここでは「大躍進」という意味で使われています。皮肉が利いています。(Othello)
