今回取り上げる表現はhit their strideです。ここでのstrideは「おおまた，ひとまたぎ」ではなく，「進歩，発展」という意味です。そしてこの意味のstrideはhitと共起すると，hit one’s strideで「本調子を出す，いつもの調子が出る」という意味になります（『ジーニアス英和辞典』第4版，大修館書店）。上記の意味の通り，hitやstrideからは何か躍動感が感じられますね。
