The Revolution Will Not Be Televised

Poetry ReadingとFunk/ Soul Musicの力で世界を変えようとした，ギル・スコット・ヘロンが27日ニュー・ヨークで亡くなりました。
彼の作りだした音楽は，Soul，Funk, Hip Hop, House, Acid Jazzなどの音楽にのみならず，メディアを通じて世界中に影響を与えました。とくに1971年に発表した，“Pieces of A Man”に収録されている“The Revolution will not be televised”では，トラックにポエトリーを載せるという，今のHip Hopのラップの先駆けのようなことをし，今でもさまざまなリリシストやミュージシャンに影響を与え続けています。「革命は，テレビじゃ映らないんだ。革命は生きているんだ。」このような言葉を，朗読という形で人々に伝えた彼のソウルは今後も生き続けるでしょう。
去年，アルバム“I’m New Here”を発表して，さらにリミックス・アルバムも発売し，まだまだ闘い続け，これからも詩を書き続けるのだと思っていた矢先のことです。彼は，最後に“I’m New Here”のブックレットでこんなことを言っていました。
