be at it again
いよいよ「パイレーツ・オブ・カリビアン 生命（いのち）の泉」の公開日が近づいてきました。今回はVOA（05/13/11付け）の記事である” Captain Jack Looks for Fountain of Youth in 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides'”より英語表現を拾います。
Always slightly inebriated, but rarely off balance, Captain Jack is at it again, confounding the 18th century British authorities as he sails in search of treasure.
今回注目するのはbe at it againです。文脈から「ジャック船長が再び戻ってくる」と推測しました。そこで辞書を引いてみると，「けんか[いたずら]をしている」とあり，例文としてThey are at it again. Why are they always fighting.が挙げられています（『ジーニアス英和辞典』第4版，大修館書店）。またLDOCEにはif you say that someone is at it again, you mean that they are doing something you disapprove of, which they have done beforeとあります。以上のことから，「（いつもの）ジャック船長がまた（あまりオススメしないことを）やっているよ」と訳せます。
またこの映画の原題は”Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”となっております。on stranger tidesですが，アメリカ合衆国の作家Tim Powersさんの作品であるOn Stranger Tidesと同名であることがわかりました。On Stranger Tidesは「幻影の航海」と訳され，ハヤカワ文庫FTから出版されております。（ゼミ生 カメ女）
