iPhone4ですが，早くも初期不良が報告されています。iPhoneの握り方や使うバンド（band）によっては電波の受信が悪くなる（nose dive）というものです。これに対し，Appleは以下のようなコメントを発表し，その欠陥を認めています。
"Gripping any mobile phone will result in some attenuation of its antenna performance, with certain places being worse than others depending on the placement of the antennas. This is a fact of life for every wireless phone. If you ever experience this on your iPhone 4, avoid gripping it in the lower left corner in a way that covers both sides of the black strip in the metal band, or simply use one of many available cases."（USA TODAY）
fact of lifeは「人生の（避けがたい）事実，（一般に）現実」（『リーダーズ英和辞典』第2版，研究社）という意味です。ちなみに別の意味でthe facts of lifeという表現もありますが（ホントは一番書きたいくせに...UG），ここでは説明を避けます。是非お手持ちの辞書で調べてみてください。（院生 小山本）
